Enquiries and writing samples

When you contact me, I receive the details you choose to send: your name, email address, project information and any writing sample. I use these to reply, assess the work and prepare a quote. Please send only what is needed to discuss your project.

I handle a quotation request to take steps at your request before agreeing a service. I also use relevant correspondence to administer my business and keep records of work we agree, including records I need to retain to meet legal obligations.

Service providers

This website uses Netlify to host the site and process contact forms. Your form submission passes to Netlify and can be stored in its form service. If you email me, your message is handled by the email services used to send and receive it.

These providers may process information outside the UK. You can read about Netlify’s processing and safeguards in its privacy notice and data processing agreement. Microsoft’s privacy statement explains its email services.

How long information is needed

The relevant retention period depends on whether an enquiry leads to work, whether the correspondence is still needed to deal with that work, and any record-keeping obligations. Contact me if you would like to ask about retention or request deletion of an enquiry or sample.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to access or correct your information, request its deletion or restriction, or object to processing where those rights apply. You may also have a right to receive information in a portable format. Contact me using the email address above. You can raise concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Using this website

I store your appearance choice on your device only when you select light or dark mode. Choose System to remove that saved preference. An unfinished enquiry is kept in memory while you move between pages; it is not saved in browser storage and is lost when you reload or close the page.

The writing page loads post images from Substack’s image service. Following a link to Substack or another website takes you to that provider’s site and privacy practices.
